The Reef is one of the best most established accommodations in Akumal, welcoming couples and families as well as dive groups. Snorkeling is right outside your door in Half Moon Bay or take a 10 minute walk to the tranquil waters of Yal-ku lagoon. You'll find plenty of sun lounges for sunbathing and a couple of thatched umbrellas when you've had enough but still want to be on the beach.

Stores and restaurants nearby Nearby on Half Moon Bay are two convenience stores for last minute items, cervezas... and there are two restaurants on the bay. La Buena Vida is a favorite watering hole/restaurant with a sand floor "swing bar", dive shop next door. The other way toward Yal-ku lagoon is La Lunita restaurant for excellent international cuisine inside and on the beach. Akumal Bay is the heart of town two kilometers south. There you will find more restaurants, gift shops, grocery stores, dive shops, just about anything you could need.
