Villa Leona is an eclectic bungalow with an easy style, and unless you have zebra and leopard print carpets at home, you will find this little villa to be a welcome departure from your day-to-day surroundings! Local leather and wood furniture along with custom made, mahogany framed, futon couches have been cleverly mixed with cultural ornaments and items from Africa to create an atmosphere that is comfortable and exotic, especially at night under candlelight. The owner took the photos on the walls in Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa, which is also where many of the decorative items, that give this villa its mystical quality, were purchased.
Villa Leona has a first floor living room with a wild leopard carpet, a couple of leather chairs, coffee table, and a black futon couch and chair that convert to a queen and single size bed, respectively. Mahogany louvered doors lead into a beautifully decorated bedroom with a queen size bed, bedside tables and exotic carpets. A full kitchen that includes a breakfast bar, and the dining area is adjacent to the living room on the first floor, as well as a full bathroom. Doors from the dining room open to a private backyard with greenery and then the beach. The cooling sea breeze is virtually constant and ceiling fans throughout the house circulate the air.
From the living room a mahogany stair/ladder ascends to the loft where a king size bed and second living room are located. The loft area is candle lit and very romantic. The loft living room has another queen size futon couch; zebra carpet and is a comfortable place to socialize. A cool ‘wooden bridge’ is your walkway to a balcony that overlooks Soliman Bay and the Caribbean.
From the dining area, large mahogany doors lead to a private patio with an outdoor kitchen with gas grill. From the patio, a shaded path leads to the white sand of the beach, with a palapa for shade, hammocks and chaise lounges by the surf. The snorkeling is good from here and a kayak is provided for exploring Soliman Bay. At the side of the house there is a convenient outdoor shower for rinsing off the salt and sand from the beach. If you are looking for a romantic little hideaway on a secluded stretch of tropical beach, then Villa Leona is an excellent choice!
